Palo Santo® Ancestral chips

Palo Santo is a natural incense with a thousand-year tradition, made from the Bursera graveolens plant. Its aroma has many benefits: it purifies the energies of the environment, encourages inner harmony and mental and physical balance, and stimulates concentration and introspection.

Why you should choose the Ancestral variety:
Palo Santo variety harvested in northern Peru. In this area the Bursera graveolens tree grows in a rocky terrain with harsh climatic and environmental conditions. Thank to these conditions, the tree produces a large amount of resin and the aroma is particularly strong and intense, rich in limonene, it is the ideal variety for rituals and ceremonies.

The grains of the Ancestral variety have a thinner size than those of the Ritual variety, so they are called chips.

How to use Palo Santo chips:
The use of Palo Santo chips is very simple:

1. Light a charcoal and place it on the metal screen inside the brazier (see one of our handmade, terracotta braziers).
2. When the charcoal starts glowing, take a small pinch of grains and place it on it.
3. Palo Santo grains slowly heat up until it releases a fair amount of smoke.
4. Let the grains burn on the charcoal until they no longer release smoke.
5. The fumigation duration also depends on the size of the Palo Santo grains chosen for fumigation.
6. Turn the charcoal with tweezers halfway through the process for a better fumigation.
7. Close the brazier for a more controlled and longer-lasting fumigation.
8. When the grains are charred, remove them and add new ones.

Compared to the sticks, the chips format produces a more intense and longer-lasting smoke, without the need to continually light the incense as it is necessary with the wood stick. Unlike shavings, the chips do not need to be renewed as frequently.
